RAL Design

terracotta to cacao

All five share hue 050 in the RAL Design System, so they sit together as one family of browns; only lightness and chroma change. Read RAL 050 50 40 as hue 050, lightness 50, chroma 40.

  1. 01Clay

    RAL 050 70 30 ~ the palest, a soft sandy terracotta.

  2. 02Terra

RAL 050 60 40 ~ the true terracotta, and with Brick the richest of the five (chroma 40).

  3. 03Brick

    RAL 050 50 40 ~ a deeper brick brown.

  4. 04Umber

    RAL 050 40 30 ~ warm mid-brown, like old wood.

  5. 05Cacao

RAL 050 30 20 ~ the darkest and calmest (chroma 20), close to dark chocolate.

Questions

Do you make a terracotta lamp?

Yes. Terra (RAL 050 60 40) and Clay (RAL 050 70 30) are our terracotta tones, and every U· piece is painted to order in them at the same price: wall light, table and ambient lamps, pendants and the side table. They are shown as colour previews in the Colour Studio; a painted sample shows the real gloss.

Which pieces have been photographed in brown?

Umber: U·013, U·016, U·021, U·037 and U·044. Brick: U·013, U·037 and U·039. Cacao: the U·001 side table.

What are the RAL codes?

Clay RAL 050 70 30, Terra RAL 050 60 40, Brick RAL 050 50 40, Umber RAL 050 40 30 and Cacao RAL 050 30 20, all in the RAL Design System.

Does a custom colour cost more?

No. Every piece is painted to order, so any colour costs the same, whether it is one of our 35 curated colours or any RAL code.

Can I see a sample first?

Yes. Ask for a colour sample in any collection colour or RAL code and we post you a painted chip.
